Do you get the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce weekly e-newsletter? If not, you are missing out on one of the best overviews on what is happening in the Manitoba business community – with pertinent news items, event notices, and information on various initiatives and special programs being run by Manitoba businesses across all industry sectors. One of my favourite features is the “Meet Our Members” article – that introduces me to a different Manitoba business every article.
Two of our clients have been in the spotlight this year so far.
The Canadian Mental Health Association/Winnipeg Branch (July).
Read more about them and the highly important work they do in our community. Learn more about what they needed, and how we met those needs.
MIG Insurance (May)
This innovative network of insurance brokers provides services across Manitoba, with 9 locations to serve their urban and rural customers. They were named as one of the Top 40 Fastest Growing Companies in 2010.
Congratulations to both our clients on this great piece of publicity and exposure – thanks to the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce!
Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of speaking to a group of graduates from ICTAM's WorkIT program about diversity in the Canadian business economy.
Diversity is very important to me, and to Modern Earth as a company. We have professionals working with us from the United Kingdom, Afghanistan, Australia, and Iceland - all of whom chose Manitoba as their home.
The WorkIT program, developed and run by ICTAM, is an excellent example of Manitoba providing resources for those new to the country, who add their experience to the Manitoba IT business sector. Modern Earth has been working with ICTAM for a number of years, and as a member of the advisory group, I see how much energy is put into developing a program which will directly benefit the IEP and help them integrate into the workforce successfully.
Immigrants are key to building countries - the drive to create prosperity and success is critical for any country's future, and Canada is no exception. Through their WorkIT program, ICTAM helps internationally educated professionals develop the particular skills which will help them succeed in Manitoba's professional culture - and help them apply their knowledge and unique approach to the success of businesses here.
I’m honoured to be part of this program, and through the various events work with internationally educated professionals to help them become successful – because the truth is, we actually need these professionals more than they need us.
