Insights into the Online World

Gene Simmons with Dan Belhassen and Marnie GrimolfsonGene Simmons came to town on June 15th as part of the ICONS UNCENSORED series that will be bringing in dynamic speakers over the next several years. Modern Earth was proud to be a sponsor of this event. The question you may ask is “why”?

  1. ICONS UNCENSORED is a client - we managed their Facebook PPC campaign, which drove 80% of the traffic to their website.
  2. We got to put our brand out in front of a different demographic of potential customer by being tagged on the promotional material and radio ads.
  3. We had promotional vehicles that were of value to the promoter, so it was a fair & balanced exchange of sponsorship for exposure on both sides.
  4. We got mentioned from the stage and had our banner at the event (see point # 2)
  5. Gene is a marketing genius, and we thought our clients and friends might benefit from hearing his wisdom.
  6. Some of us are KISS fans, some of us are Family Jewels fans, some of us are fans of his marketing strategies (or all three).
  7. We got to meet GENE SIMMONS and he was very cool. And wise in the ways of marketing.

Gene Simmons with Susan HurrellForget the kerfuffle over his being given keys to the city. Gene provided numerous members of the audience with some straight-to-the-point business advice as he roamed the crowd looking for people who wanted to make more money and do more business. It was a very grow your business focused night, and we were proud to be a small part of bringing some innovated and unconventional thinking to the Winnipeg business community. Watch for future ICONS UNCENSORED events in 2011 & 2012!

Education is the way to success – and something Modern Earth believes in supporting strongly. We work with a number of Winnipeg schools, to help encourage young people to become entrepreneurs and community builders. One of the programs our involvement is the Louis Riel School Division's Career Internship Program.

Each year through the CIP, one student at Windsor Park Collegiate is given the "Maxim-izing Your Potential Award" in recognition of their work within the community as a volunteer, their commitment to academic excellence, and their demonistration of personal growth throughout the year.

This year's recipient, pictured below with Modern Earth’s president Dan Belhassen, is Toni Todoruk. Tony volunteers with the Zoological Society's Boo at the Zoo event, and Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives programs. She also volunteers as a coach for the division's Cross Country Track program, and is a figure skaing instructor with Skate Canada.

Adriano Magnifico, Program Head for CIP, had this to say of Modern Earth's involvement with the program:

We are very grateful to Modern Earth Web Design for investing in the program since its inception in 2006. Dan Belhassen and the MEWD team have generously sponsored our CIP Proactivity Award for the past three years and have annually consulted with students and/or judged student product concept ideas during our annual Tiger’s Den Entrepreneurship Conference. MEWD inspires students to trust their creative impulses and to imagine the impossible. CIP would be diminished without their help and presence each year.

We’re honoured to help Winnipeg schools encourage young leaders to take charge of their own learning and pursue their passion for helping the community at large.

The Provencher Blvd. BIZ is proud to announce their inaugural Music in the Garden event, presented by Caisse Financial Group. With generous financial support from Councillor Dan Vandal and Entreprise Riel, the BIZ is providing two lunch time music events to kick off the summer.

Starting at noon on Friday June 10th and 17th, the Sculpture Garden at 219 Provencher Blvd. will be alive with the sounds of live music, the smells of BBQ food, and the sights of people from the neighbourhood gathering together. Please join your friends and neighbours at this event. Bring your lunch or get a hot dog on site.

Modern Earth's account managers Daniel Alper and Shaun Furman will be attending both events - stop by and say hello!
